Plato's Thought Of Class Virtues

As a famous philosopher of ancient Greece,Plato's thoughts covered philosophy,politics,economy,culture,education and other fields.The idea of class virtue designed by Plato is the first systematic theory of class virtue in the history of western political ethics,and has a lasting and profound influence.Plato tried to construct the ideal city-state for the purpose of the supreme good through his thoughts of class virtue.This paper start from Plato's The Republic and other classical works,and attempts to interpret and analyse the historical roots,main contents,applied logic and value evaluation of the thought of class virtues from the perspective of political ethics,so as to achieve a new understanding of Plato's thought of class virtues.This thesis is divided into four chapters:The first chapter systematically analyse the historical origin of Plato's thought of class virtues.The author expounds the formation process and historical roots of Plato's thought of class virtues from three aspects: the social background of Plato's thought of class virtues,the thought of class virtues generated before Plato,and the influence of Plato's early experiences on his thought of class virtues.The second chapter is the focus of this thesis.It chiefly discusses the main content of Plato's thought of class virtues,that is,"three classes and fourcardinal virtues".The three classes are the ruling class,the warrior class and the business class.The four virtues are the wisdom corresponding to the ruling class,the bravery corresponding to the warrior class,the temperance corresponding to the business class,as well as the justice of the city-state composed of the previous three virtues.The third chapter is the main innovation part of this thesis,which analyse the applied logic of Plato's thought of class virtue.The aim of this chapter is to figure out the literary allusion to the idea of class virtue in The Republic;to explore Plato's inner world when he designed the thought of class virtue from Plato's classical works in different periods,to find his inner virtue cultivation logic;this article also explores the social practice logic of Plato's thought of class virtue,in order to better explain the deep connotation between Plato's thought of social virtue and the ethical thinking caused by it.The fourth chapter is the evaluation and analysis of the value of Plato's thought of class virtues.It mainly focus on the later generation influence,the contemporary value and the theoretical limit of his class virtue thought.
