For nearly a century,with the deepening of archaeology in the Western Region and the continuous increase of unearthed cultural relics,the vast Turpan has attracted more and more scholars' attention and has achieved rich scientific research results.Turpan was called Gaochang in ancient times.After the destruction of Gaochang State in the Tang Dynasty in the 14th year of Zhenguan,Gaochang was renamed Xizhou,under the jurisdiction of the central dynasty and connected with it.It gradually developed into the gateway of the Tang Dynasty to rule the Western Region.Regarding the history of Xizhou,the documents handed down are not very rich,and the epitaphs,as unearthed cultural relics,just fill the gaps in historical data,and provide a true and reliable basis for our comprehensive understanding of Xizhou.As a famous family in the area,the study of Zhang family epitaphs has multi-level significance and value.From the perspective of history,we can not only know Zhangs historical origins and migration process,but also clarify the lineage of family members and their positions of entry into official.The historical events recorded in it are an important supplement to the handed-down documents from generation to generation.From the perspective of literature,the analysis of Zhiwen and Mingwen can reveal the overall literary ability and cultural features of the frontiers of the Tang Dynasty.From the perspective of calligraphy,the Zhang family epitaphs accounted for one-third of the total Tang epitaphs unearthed in Turpan,because of the large number,it is representative.the only four epitaphs of large in size and well-made are all from the Zhang family,which is typical.Research on it can not only grasp the overall calligraphy of Xizhou,but also highlight the cutting-edge style of calligraphy in the region,help to clarify the development of Xizhou calligraphy,and explore the similarities and differences between its calligraphy and calligraphy of central plains.This article analyzes and discusses the epitaphs of the Zhang family in Xizhou,based on the results of previous studies,and the full text is divided into four chapters:The first chapter is the introduction.It mainly expounds the research significance of the subject and the current status of research domestic and overseas,analyzes the key points,difficulties and innovations of the subject,and explains the material selection and research methods of the subject.The second chapter is divided into two parts,the epitaph and the Zhang family.First,interpret the epitaph,analyze its historical origins,and summarize the characteristics of Turpan's epitaph;Secondly,sort out the surname source of Zhang and migration experience of the Zhang family in the Tang Dynasty,and discuss the Confucian concept of the Zhang family.The third chapter analyzes the Zhang family epitaph calligraphy,summarizes the font structure and style features of different writings,discusses the evolution and development of epitaph calligraphy and its influencing factors,and then concludes the characteristics of epitaph calligraphy.The fourth chapter mainly discusses the cultural phenomenon appearing in epitaphs,including Wu Zetian's newly created characters and the stylistic features of Zhiwen and Mingwen.In summary,this article puts the epitaph of the Zhang family unearthed in Turpan in a large historical environment for comprehensive research,and aims to inject new elements and development vitality into Turpan studies and western region research.
