The Role Reference And Cultural Value Of Teochew Opera Clown Art In Animation Design

In recent years,more and more attention has been paid to the traditional culture of China,and the discussion about the Chinese Cultural Confidence also provided the base for the inheritance and development of traditional culture.Teochew Opera is a local drama in Chaoshan area,Guangdong province,which is accompanied by local practices like Teochew dialect and music.It is one of the national intangible cultural heritages.Different characters in Teochew Opera have respectively visual appearances,among which the roles of jesters are the feature of Teochew Opera,significantly reflecting the history and the culture of this art,and has rich modeling and action elements..Turing to animation which is a comprehensive art form,the design techniques of it can be realistic or abstract.As early as the 1980 s,some animation films which were referred to Chinese operas such as their themes,characters,actions obtained a few awards on the international stage,and gave birth to some well-known classic animation characters,although followed by a period of sluggish.Luckily,Chinese animation has gradually emerged in recent years.A number of animated films with traditional Chinese elements had been hugely successful,giving birth to animated character images with national characteristics,and products inspired and created by them are popular in market.Therefore,this paper focused on applying the elements of the jester in Teochew Opera to the design of animations,expecting to not only inspire the animation character design with traditional elements,but to promote traditional local opera and traditional Chinese culture.Base on today's calling on the Cultural Confidence,the content of any artistic creation is expected and encouraged to search from our national culture and inherit those positive aspects.Thus,by studying and refining the aesthetic value of the jesters in Teochew Opera,a traditional art form,this paper found out some valuable features of the jesters in Teochew Opera and symbolized them,trying to provide some practices on designing and creating initiative character of national animation which would attract more audiences.In addition,through the sorting and research of this paper,it hoped to influence other scholars to concern the study on the jesters of Teochew Opera.It might help to develop some excellent local operas and inherit some traditional culture.
