Tempera Materials Language Research

Since its birth,oil painting has experienced historical development stages such as Renaissance to classicism,modernism,realism and impressionism.With the change of the times,the techniques of oil painting have been improved and developed by countless artists.From the early Renaissance Nederlander painter Jan Van Eyck to the heyday masters Leonardo da Vinci,Raphael,Then to the great 17th century Dutch painting masters Rembrandt,Hals,Vermeer,and the 20th century outstanding figurative painting master Balthus.Their works can be immortal,thanks to their superb painting techniques,as well as profound artistic attainments,for the human creation of wonderful works of art.Their painting techniques and artistic pursuit are worthy of our posterity's study,arrangement and study.Tempera painting is a painting technique in the early stage of the development of oil painting.It has a profound influence on oil painting.It belongs to indirect painting,also called classical multi-layer transparent painting.Tempera Painting takes advantage of the transparency and quick drying of tempera materials,By dyeing a layer of harmonious color mask on the layer of solidified color,the colors of different color layers are refracted by light to produce visual color mixing,The picture shows a unique rich texture and charming color language,like multi-layers of colored transparent glass stacked together,different from the use of modern industrial production of the oil paint direct painting method,is difficult to achieve.Researching,arranging and learning tempera painting techniques,mastering tempera materials in the use of painting creation,is the inheritance of traditional classical painting,but also the need to enrich the contemporary oil painting creation language.Because under the background of the times,its rich humanism spirit needs us to inherit and carry forward,at the same time,it is also a tribute to this traditional material technique;Through the re-combing of tempera oil painting material language,combined with their own creation experience,the technique materials and the use of steps to illustrate for contemporary painting creation materials and techniques to provide the possibility to expand.This paper is divided into five chapters.The first chapter introduces the reasons for choosing the topic,the purpose of the research and the research methods,which will pave the way for the analysis of tempera painting material techniques.The second chapter is an overview of the germination and development of tempera painting material language;The third chapter is the analysis of painting materials and techniques of masters in different periods before creation,which lays the foundation for my oil painting creation practice.The fourth chapter is the selection and practical application of materials in the process of creation practice,combing the problems of painting creation practice and analyzing the feasibility of using materials;The fifth chapter is the conclusion,through the analysis of tempera material language,on the basis of fully understanding the traditional materials,add appropriate modern materials,study how these materials better effect on the picture,to achieve the ideal effect.
