Li Jiannong Historical Research

Li Jiannong(1880-1963)is one of famous historians in modern China.He was committed to studying modern Chinese political history and ancient Chinese economic history for many years,and has made many beneficial explorations and made outstanding achievements.However,at present,the academic research on Li Jiannong and his writtings is not directly proportional to its contribution.This paper mainly discusses Li Jiannong's academic achievements and his contribution to Chinese Historiography by analyzing his academic process,historical achievements,historical thoughts and methods.The dissertation is divided into three parts:The first chapter focuses on The Political History of China in the last 30 years(After the founding of the People's Republic of China,it was revised and abridged as The Political History of China in the 30 years after 1898)and The Political History of China,1840-1928.According to the background of Li Jiannong's time and his discussion on modern Chinese politics,and expounds Li Jiannong's research overview and results in the field of modern Chinese political history.Li's analysis of the history from the Opium War to the reorganization of the Kuomintangis clear-cut,detailed and appropriate,candid and critical.He is good at studying the evolution of China's internal politics in the complex situation of Sino foreign exchanges,and has won high praise in the academic circles at home and abroad.In the second chapter,onthe basis of teasing out the dissemination and versions ofAncient Chinese Economic History,putting the book into the historical environment at that time,and explores its research achievements and characteristics in the aspects of ancient Chinese productivity and production relations,commerce,currency and so on.As one of the few general economic history of ancient China at that time,the book has made a pioneering contribution to the study of ancient Chinese economic history with detailed content,rich historical materials,rigorous textual research and cautious judgment.The third chapter is the summary and sublimation of this paper,based on Li Jiannong's political history and economic history research,analyzes his historical thoughts and historical methods.Li Jiannong's historiography thought includes historical view,historical dialectics,the principle of seeking truth from facts,the idea of multi-disciplinary combination,and so on.His historiography method includes contact method,comparative method,psychological research method,statistical method,and so on,these historical thoughts and methods are of great significance to the later historical researchers.
