On Lü Simian's Academic Thoughts Of Historiography

Moderate and empiricism are the core of Lu Simian's academic thoughts and scholarship. In details, the so-called "moderate" refers to that when facing many important academic arguments, Mr. Lu always holds a moderate attitude. This kind of attitude seems to be neutral, but, in fact, it is transcendence after absorbing and sublating, which is just contrary to the main stream of extremism in that of period. The so-called "empiricism" refers to Mr Lu's style in the pursuit of learning which is similar to the "real learning" advocated from the late Ming Dynasty to early Qing Dynasty. It can refer to the artlessness in academic style and it can also refer to the conversion from academic achievements to benefits for the society in reality. The thesis will analyze the intrinsis logic of "moderate" and "empiricism" from Mr. Lu's view.There are mainly seven chapters in the theis.Chapter one mainly relates the source of Mr. Lii's thoughts. From the background of Modern history of China, the paper will state how Mr.Lu absorbed the confucion classic, the new academy and the social sciences introduced from the West. Just under such an inclusive environment, Mr.Lu formed his unique academic thoughts of historiography.In Chapter two to Chapter seven, it analyzes the "moderate" in Mr.LU's academic thoughts of historiography. Under the pressure of thoughts from outer world, latter-day Chinese scholars need to reconsider many important academic problems, such as the absorbing and sublating between tradition and modernity, new thoughts and old ones, historical viewpoint and facts and specialization and comprehensive learning etc. Referring to those problems, Mr. Lu formed his own mature and unique viewpoints and balanced those contradictions and tensity brought by the times.In theory and practice, on the discussion of the reconstruction of history and the establishing of academic development of China in new times, Mr. lu's academic thoughts of historiography give the important thoughts and offer some inspirations.
