This paper takes the novels of Wang Zhaoyun,a novelist of the late Ming Dynasty,as the research object and intends to make a comprehensive study of his novel creation.Wang Zhaoyun's novels are rich in content and diverse in subject matter.This paper starts from Wang Zhaoyun's life and family,then analyzes his works and views of novels,and tries to grasp the literary characteristics his novels.The first chapter is the introduction of Wang Zhaoyun's life,friends and works.It mainly focus on Wang Zhaoyun's family background,summarizes his friends,and sorts out his major literary works.Based on this,it launches an in-depth study of Wang Zhaoyun's novels.The second chapter starts from Wang Zhaoyun's view of novels,and summarizes Wang's view of novels,such as persuading people to do good deeds and complements the hhistorical record,and classifies his novel themes into three categories: strange things,people and natural history.In the third chapter,Wang Zhaoyun mainly uses the concept of karma and coincidence to set plots in the aspect of plot construction,and the writing perspective is mainly based on the perspective of limited knowledge.He creates two typical character images of evil monk and benevolent official.In the aspect of character shaping techniques,he mainly uses the combination of fiction and reality and the description of details.The last chapter explores the influence of Wang Zhaoyun's novels on later generations from two aspects: the selection and quotation of his works in the collection of classical Chinese novels,and the adaptation of his works by vernacular novels,objectively appraises the value and deficiency of the novels,and gives them a proper positioning.
