For a long time, politeness research has attracted much attention, both at home and abroad. It's only in recent years that impolite speech acts have slowly received the attention it deserves.Based on Bousfield's theory(2008)of impolite speech act,and also refers to scholar Li Yuansheng's theory(2014)of impolite speech act, this paper study and analyze the characteristics and pragmatic effects of impolite speech act in conflicting discourse between parents and children. The conflict segments the paper need are selected from all the conflicting discourses between three parent-child pairs in the television series "Xiaohuanxi".Research has found that the impolite speech acts of conflicting discourse between parents and children can be divided into three categories. In specific communication, these different types of impolite speech acts have varying degrees of offensiveness. In addition,in terms of the pragmatic function of impolite speech acts, the research has found that impolite speech acts don't only harm and threaten face and interests. The pragmatic functions of impolite speech acts should be viewed from both positive and negative aspects.Positive pragmatic functions may vent bad emotions, create a humorous atmosphere and promote harmony, while negative pragmatic functions may damage the interests of the communicator, hinder the realization of communication intentions and hurt emotional relationships. Therefore, this paper hopes that through the study of impolite speech acts in conflicting discourse between parents and children, people could deeply understand the essence and importance of impolite speech acts, and at the same time, recognize the duality of the pragmatic functions of impolite speech acts, and use impolite speech acts correctly.
