The landscape painting on the theme of “Ode to the Red Cliff” is an image created based on the text of “Ode to the Red Cliff” and “Nunniu · Recreate the Ancient History in the Red Cliff”.“Ode to the Red Cliff”is an important painting subject of traditional Chinese landscape painting,and has become the subject that ancient calligraphers and painters are keen on creating.Especially in the Ming Dynasty,there were a lot of corresponding paintings,and the importance and brilliance of landscape paintings on the theme of "Ode to the Red Cliff" in the history of Chinese painting were also unsurpassed.This paper first expounds the historical background and inner meaning of Su Shi's life and the creation of “Ode to the Red Cliff”,discusses the unique "red cliff complex" of the literati of all dynasties,and discusses the development of such paintings before the Ming Dynasty.Secondly,this paper mainly discusses the prevalence of landscape painting with the theme of "Ode to the Red Cliff" in the Ming Dynasty,and analyzes the reasons for the rise of such landscape painting in the Ming Dynasty,as well as the characteristics of the era of the painting with the theme in the Ming Dynasty.This paper also analyzes the most influential and representative Wumen painters in the Ming Dynasty,especially Wen Zhengming and Qiu Ying,who created landscape paintings on the theme of "Ode to Red Cliff".Through their unique way of expression and combined with their understanding of the text content,painters created a large number of landscape paintings themed on "Ode to the Red Cliff".Due to their repeated reproduction and interpretation,they deeply influenced the creation style of other painters on this topic,and thus the creation and expression form of "Ode to the Red Cliff" theme painting became stylized.In the end,this paper discusses the influence of the landscape painting pattern of "Ode to Red Cliff" in Ming Dynasty on the later creation and on the creation of this theme in neighboring countries of China,especially Japan.Meanwhile,it explores the influence on other art categories,such as handicrafts and printmaking.The landscape painting on the theme of "Ode to Red Cliff" has unique artistic value in the Ming Dynasty.The painting of "Ode to the Red Cliff" painted by the Ming Dynasty painter was gradually separated from Su Shi's original text.These pictures reveal the atmosphere and mood which are not completely consistent with the text,and contain the unique view of nature and the spirit of landscape.Moreover,because of the far-reaching influence of the schemas created by the Ming Dynasty painters,Ode to the Red Cliff moved from the literati class to the wider folk.
