Being a special kind of language phenomenon in Chinese,separable words are also called idioms,combined verbs,separable words,phrase words,etc.They refer to the semantically solidified two-syllabic structure"A+B" which can be operated to structure "A+X+B" by inserting other constituents,and insertion does not change the meaning of "A+B".On the basis of previous studies on consolidation,this research mainly discusses the definition of separable words in international Chinese teaching from the perspective of generative grammar,and analyzes the relationship between the valence of separable words and its separated form.Based on this,this paper compiles the Separable Word Vocabulary for the Application of International Chinese Teaching,and lists a number of teaching suggestions based on the vocabulary.It is hoped that this research can enrich the study of separable words in modern Chinese to a certain extent,and provide reference for international Chinese teachers to deal with the content of separable words.Advanced Chinese learners can also use the vocabulary for references related to separable words.This article mainly includes the following parts:The first part is the introduction.The second chapter discusses how to define separable words in international Chinese teaching based on(de)lexicalization,generative word and prosodic grammar,and determines the selection criteria for the construction of the separable word vocabulary.Chapter Three selects the separable words required by the vocabulary based on The Graded Chinese Syllables,Characters and Words for the Application of Teaching Chinese to the Speakers of Other Languages,and determines the classification from the perspective of valency.The fourth chapter presents the vocabulary compiled in this research.The last part is the conclusion.This paper believes that separable words are verb-object two-syllable verbs located at the end of a sentence with no object following.According to valence grammatical theory,there are four types of separable words:active transitive separable words,passive transitive separable words,verb-object intransitive separable words,and formally verb-object intransitive separable words.The distinctive features are as follows:Transitivity of separated type,which means the ability of the separable word to introduce logical objects inside the separable word;Nominalization degree of nominal constituent,which is mainly determined by whether it can be possessed;Passiveness of the subject,which indicates if the subject of the separable word is the agent or the patient of the action.The separation methods of separable words can be divided into five categories:predicate x(V)separation,complement y(N)separation,modal separation,movement separation,and collocation.A total of 385 words are included in the separable word vocabulary which compiled in this study.The vocabulary is divided into three parts:vocabulary description,classification vocabulary,and phonetic sequence vocabulary,with the vocabulary-based separable word teaching suggestions attached.
