Research On The Aesthetic Value Of Rubbing Mounting

The mounting techniques of rubbing,being an important category in the traditional Chinese mounting and conservation techniques,have been influenced by many factors,such as its age,form and application of the rubbing methods.Meanwhile,the inheritance,refinement and development of mounting and conservation techniques have played a great role and influence on the promotion of the excellent traditional Chinese culture and the protection of classic artworks.This paper takes the mounting and conservation of the rubbing piece of "Da Ji Jing" from Shandong Iron Mountain Cliff Carving Stone as an example,by combining with the author's personal study and practical experiences,to discuss the aesthetic values on the mounting and restoration techniques of traditional rubbing in China in the research.This discussion covers the topics from the aesthetics of colour matching and form treatments,to the influences of the mounting and restoration techniques and aesthetic cultivation etc.The mounting and conservation techniques of rubbing,calligraphy and painting are not only to simply protect the antiquity and cultural relics,but also to maintain the intrinsic value of the original pieces as well as the aesthetics of mounting itself.
