English Curriculum Standards for Chinese Junior Middle Schools(2011edition)proposed that “We should attach great importance to the change of instruction model and learning strategy under the background of modern information technology(hereafter “IT”)”.At the same time,it also mentioned “English teachers should make full use of information technology and promote the depth of the information technology and curriculum integration”.Thus,the application of information technology has become one of the main contents of English instruction,which plays an important role in the field.However,the research on the integration of teachers' IT literacy and English subject knowledge is relatively limited,especially the status quo of junior high school English teachers' IT literacy.This research takes four aspects of IT literacy as the main framework and the constructivism and TPACK theory as theoretical support.Through the investigation and interview of English teachers who are now working in junior high schools,the thesis concentrated on the status quo of English teachers' IT literacy to combine English teaching with information technology.Through the analysis of the results of questionnaire survey and class observation,the results show that:(1)The IT awareness of experienced English teachers in middle schools is 3.983,which is relatively high.Teachers are willing to take the initiative to explore and use IT;(2)according to the data from questionnaire survey and class observation,there are some differences between IT knowledge and ability,which is relatively low.According to the feedback questionnaire,those teachers in the IT knowledge and ability of self-awareness is relatively good,but from the point of class observation analysis.English teachers in the different class type on the frequency of the use of IT.The frequency of listening and speaking class is the highest,while the usage rate of other classes is low.Therefore,it is not enough for experienced English teachers to use IT to create English classes which are“subjectivity”“context”“interactivity”and “diagnosis”;(3)The score of IT ethics of experienced English teachers in middle schools in Wanzhou district is as high as 4.045.Teachers can take the initiative to guide students to develop good study habits.Combining factor analysis with constructivism theory,the results show that following factors are the main reasons for the problems of IT literacy of experienced junior high school English teachers.The first is the school factors,which are embodied in the lack of incentives for experienced English teachers,and the limited ways to improve the IT ability of experienced English teachers.Secondly,there are personal factors,which are specifically manifested in the lack of energy of proficient English teachers,who need to spend a lot of time in correcting homework,taking care of family,preparing lessons,caring for students and so on.Last but not least is social factors.Under the current education system,teachers will pay more attention to students' performance.Schools will pay more attention to the enrollment rate,and the teaching work will focus more on improving students' performance.Thus neglecting the development of teachers' IT ability and students' core competences of English.In order to solve part of the problems effectively,and to make IT assist English class teaching,and to form“subjectivity”“context”“interactivity”and “diagnosis” of English class,this research finally puts forward corresponding suggestions from the school level and the teacher's individual level.
