On The Image And Film Adaptation Of Lu Xun's Novel "Sadness"

Lu Xun was a great founder of modern Chinese literature,and the pioneer of realistic literature of Chinese revolution.Lu Xun's novels are like a giant tree standing in the literary world.Litterateurs and historians have to acknowledge that his achievements of novels are more superior than poetry and drama.Lu Xun's novels“pose significant impacts on young writers,and many people try to engage themselves with joy.” Many modern and contemporary authors,such as Ba Jin,Xiao Hong and Chen Yinzhen,were significantly influenced by Lu Xun.In a manner of speaking,Lu Xun's literary works and thoughts pose far-reaching impacts on the development for and history of Chinese literature,which initiated a brand-new era of literature.Shang Shi is the only romance novel of Lu Xun.It reveals the ideological transformation of intellectuals and the importance of economic independence for emancipation of women.Because of the uniqueness and classics,image adaptation of Shang Shi is bound to become rather representative in modern and contemporary Chinese novels.Hence,It has unique research values.The paper is mainly divided into four chapters.The introduction discusses the multiple adaptation of Shang Shi.It shows that literary creations being changed to images has become a hot issue in the contemporary literature.Chapter 1 takes literature text of Shang Shi as the starting point of research,and conducts detailed text analysis.It signifies the artistic features of literary works,and discusses the image adaptation of Shang Shi.Chapter 2 analyzes and interprets the image changes in different versions of Shang Shi.It goes through the serial pictures by Chen Shifa,Yao Youxin and Gu Jixu,as well as illustrations by Zhao Yannian,Fan Zeng and Ding Cong from aspects of characterization,scene selection and plot revisions.Besides,through comparing novels and image texts,this section also discusses the in-depth connotations and values of literary work adaptation.Chapter 3 analyzes the adaptation of films and operas about Shangshi based on the following aspects: characterization and changes of story plots.Chapter 4 is concerned with relevant thinking and suggestions on adaptation of Shang Shi.On the basis of the above research and analysis,it aims to expand the connotations and dimensions of studies on Lu Xun's novels,deduces the general laws for the literary adaptation and development of Shang Shi,thereby providing some references and suggestions on adaptation,popularization and propagation of Lu Xun's literary works.
