A Study Of Physical Education In Modern Tianjin Mission Schools

Since the second Opium War,Western religious groups or individual missionaries began to open a large number of church schools in Tianjin with the main purpose of preaching(cultural aggression)as the main purpose.American missionary1860 Bai Henry's small study at the Tin Hau Palace outside the East Gate was the first church school in modern Tianjin,As an indispensable part of the education system,gymnastics has been included in the teaching system since the establishment of church schools.The modern Tianjin church school not only spread the western advanced knowledge,but also introduced the western emerging sports,which played a good demonstration role to the modern Tianjin school.This paper takes the modern and modern Tianjin missionary school sports as the research object,and divides the development of modern Tianjin missionary school sports into four stages: the beginning period,the prosperity period,the adjustment period and the transformation period by using the method of literature,historical research,logical analysis and text analysis,and takes this as the middle line to carry out the longitudinal research.At the same time,this paper conducts in-depth horizontal research on the physical education courses,sports competitions,extra-curricular sports activities,the training of physical education teachers and sports field equipment in the elementary,middle,higher and girls' schools in Tianjin in the four periods.Let this precious history of the development of school sports can be continued,at the same time for the development of Tianjin school sports to lay a theoretical foundation.In modern times,because of the different historical background of the church schools in Tianjin,the characteristics of the schools in different development periods are also different: during the period of development,the physical education curriculum and equipment of the church schools are relatively single,and the extracurricular sports activities are gradually developed and perfected;During the period of adjustment,the curriculum,extracurricular sports activities and sports competitions of church schools were standardized,and the sports venues were fully equipped,but because of the influence of the withdrawal of educational sovereignty and non-base sports,church schools began to adjust.During the period of transformation,church schools carried out a series of reforms in the purpose,content,methods,teachers,venues and facilities of physical education teaching.In 1951,Tianjin church schools were registered with the government.There are two aspects in the history of modern Tianjin church school,The positive side is :1.Enlightenment modern sports thought;2.promote the introduction of western sports;3.sports advocacy activities;4.enrich physical education teaching content and methods;5.the most innovative act--opening the first women's sports;6.opens Tianjin modern school sports gate;7.for modern Tianjin economic development.And the negative side is mainly :1.School physical education "sheep" teaching;2." player system " sports in competitive sports;3.school physical education curriculum national traditional sports lack;4.school physical education situation is greater than the content.
