The version of Cheng Jia's A Dream in Red Mansions was written in 1791 and compiled into a complete story by Cheng Wei Yuan in collaboration with Gao E.Until today,countless scholars at home and abroad have carried out in-depth analysis and research,the study of this version of Cheng Jia for the "Dream of Red Mansions" of the literary masterpiece itself and the prevailing woodcut illustrations at that time,have extremely profound academic and artistic value.The purpose of this study is as follows: In the first place,the "A Dream in Red Mansions" written by Cao Qin is one of the four classic literary masterpieces in China.In the second,understanding the formal elements,means of engraving and the humanistic feelings behind the works is helpful for people to learn from the essence of previous printmaking works in art appreciation,art communication and even art creation,and to inherit and carry forward it better.In the third,through the review,analysis and research of the printmaking illustrations in Cheng Jia's A Dream in Red Mansions,we can see a spot and know the whole leopard,and then extend to the development style and specification of the whole Qing Dynasty printmaking illustrations,so as to provide more powerful help for the future research of the Qing Dynasty printmaking illustrations.With the development and change of the times,the form and function of illustrations are becoming more and more diverse.Through the analysis of the illustrations and images of this version,it can lead to the thinking of illustration prints and even printmaking.Illustrated print,as a painting category of Chinese art,has a profound influence on Chinese culture.This paper starts with the historical background of illustration development,the relationship between illustrations and authors and characters,the language of illustrations and the historical value of literature are studied and analyzed.
