A Preliminary Study On The Comparison Of Decoration Between Hejin Kilns And Cizhou Kilns In The Song, Jin And Jin Dynasties

Song and Jin Dynasties were the prosperous period of the development of ancient Chinese ceramics.Cizhou kiln,as the representative of the northern folk kiln system,further developed and had far-reaching influence.As one of them,Hejin kiln has also produced many unique products,especially porcelain pillows.However,due to the lack of relevant historical records,it is impossible to accurately determine which kiln mouth the relevant products collected by museums and private collectors at home and abroad came from.It was not until 2016 that the relevant ceramic pillow relics unearthed from Hejin kiln made the world recognize Hejin kiln again.This paper mainly focuses on the similarities and differences between Hejin kiln and Cizhou kiln in decoration to explore the relationship between the two kilns.It mainly introduces the basic contents of Cizhou kiln and Hejin kiln,including concept definition,firing products and main decoration;After that,the typical utensils are explained in the form of pictures and words.The typical utensils are mainly those unearthed in archaeology or those whose kiln mouth and age are not disputed by academic circles.The pictures of typical utensils are mainly from archaeological reports,catalogues and major museums,and a small number of them are taken by the author himself.The types of typical utensils are mainly household utensils and porcelain pillows.Because porcelain pillows are the characteristics of the two kilns,porcelain pillows are listed separately for research;Then according to the pictures and words,the paper analyzes the relationship and difference between Hejin kiln and Cizhou kiln in decoration techniques and decorative patterns,and finally summarizes the main content of this paper.The biggest similarity of the two kilns in decoration is that they both take the white make-up soil as the basis for further decoration,and the white ground and black flower decoration derived from it is the characteristic decoration of the two kilns.The decoration techniques used in the two are mainly tire decoration,such as flower picking,flower carving,flower drawing,etc;The color decoration mainly includes white ground,black flowers,three colors,red and green colors,etc;A variety of glaze decoration,mainly black glaze,white glaze,green glaze,yellow glaze and so on.Decorative patterns mainly include text decoration,geometric patterns,flower patterns,animal patterns,baby play patterns,allusions and so on.At the same time,because of the diversity of techniques and patterns,the innovation of craftsmen,and the aesthetic taste of ordinary people,different techniques and patterns are combined with each other,which enriches the ancient Chinese kiln system.Although the unearthed and handed down types of Hejin kiln are less than those of Cizhou kiln,the main decorative techniques and decorative patterns exist,but the derived other techniques and patterns are less.Due to the fact that Cizhou kiln has a longer history and a larger scale,its decorative techniques are more diverse and patterns are more abundant,which is also the biggest difference between the two kilns.The study of the similarities and differences in the decoration of the two kilns can provide some help and support for us to study the local social customs at that time,the development and changes of Cizhou kiln ceramics in the song and Jin Dynasties,and help us enrich the framework of the folk kiln system in the song and Jin Dynasties.
