| At present,there have been frequent suicides caused by internet immoral behaviors such as bad comments.Internet immoral behaviors have attracted widespread attention.Some studies have shown that the immoral behaviors of most others in the situation will form bad descriptive norm and thus affect the immoral behaviors of individuals.Then,moral conviction which constrain individual's immoral behavior(a strong sense of what is right or wrong about a specific event or situation,as well as a subjective assessment of what is moral or immoral).Can it be an individual factor to resist the negative influence of the bad internet descriptive norm? To this end,this study explored the moderating effect of moral conviction on the process of bad internet descriptive norm influence individual's internet immoral behavior tendency.In Study 1,we using a hypothetical questionnaire(N = 322),explored a moderating model based on correlation analysis.In study 2,we manipulated moral conviction(high moral conviction & low moral conviction)and bad internet descriptive norm(high bad internet descriptive norm & low bad internet descriptive norm)to test the moderating effect of moral conviction by experimental methods(N = 191).The results show that the moderating effect of moral conviction is significant:(1)when individuals hold high moral conviction,the influence of bad internet descriptive norms on the internet immoral behavior tendency is not significant;(2)When individuals hold low moral conviction,bad internet descriptive norms significantly increase the internet immoral behavior tendency.Therefore,moral conviction can resist the negative influence of bad internet descriptive norm on internet immoral behavior tendency.This study suggests that we should pay more attention to the positive role of moral conviction in reducing individual immoral behaviors,and improve the availability of individual awareness of their moral conviction in various ways,so as to consciously restrain their own immoral behaviors. |
