In 1368,the Yuan Dynasty lost its rule over the Central Plains of China,and retreated to the Mongolian Plateau.After that,the Mongolian Plateau experienced a separatist regime and chaotic political situation for nearly two hundred years.Although Dayan khan briefly unified the Mongolian Plateau in the middle and late 16th century,but when the wheel of history turned to the middle 17th century,the Mongolian Plateau once again entered a chaotic political situation.During this period,the Ming Dynasty was exhausted,and the time of dying entered the countdown.The khan court of the North Yuan Dynasty was also defeated by the later Jin regime,and many Mongolian tribes in Inner Mongolia had already succumbed to the later Jin Dynasty.The rising Qing regime was eyeing every move on the outer Mongolia Plateau and making full preparations for finding the right opportunity to annex the rest areas.At the same time,Tibetan Buddhism has gradually spread and penetrated into the Mongolian Plateau.During this period,the Mongolian Plateau is experiencing an unprecedented dilemma-culture being replaced and political power being annexed.Therefore,the 17th century can be called an extraordinary special period for both Mongolian history and the whole Chinese history.The research object of this paper,The Book of the Origins of Mongolian Khan in Ancient Times-Sir-a Debter,is an important chronicle of Mongolia written in such a special period.In this paper,the author will make use of several copies of Sir-a Debter collected as the premise andon the basis ofachievements of previous studies,try to improvethe study of Sir-a debter.The thesis consists of three parts: the first part discusses the historical,political and cultural background of the book,as well as its author and version,and the second part further clarifies and combs the historical relationship between the three Mongolianbook of history: Sir-a Debter,Erdni-yin Tobqi and History of asaraqqi.The third part,which is also the key part of this paper,is to clarify the historical value,uniqueness,position and influence of Sir-a Debter in Mongolian chronicles.
