The rich and colorful images of journalists in modern Chinese literature show different image characteristics in different historical periods, reflecting the current social news concept. The images of journalists in literary works after the May 4th movement include elegant and upright newspaper editors, journalists full of rationality and integrity, and journalists who have lost their journalistic integrity and misbehaved journalists. These images of journalists reflect the truth of news in social novels, the public's shallow understanding of the social function of news and one-sided view of the professional attributes of journalists. After the establishment of the kuomintang regime, the image of journalists in literary works has a relatively clear ideal of journalism, pursues the freedom of the press, and faces the reality positively and optimistically. There are also some brazen cultural hooligans, who use the news to make money, lust for beauty, journalism ethics lag behind. The images of these journalists reflect that the public has a certain understanding of the freedom of the press. After the outbreak of the total war of resistance against Japanese aggression, the images of journalists in literary works are mostly represented as following the army, persisting in the war of resistance, never compromising in the face of the dark reality, pursuing the truth, and exposing corrupt officials.A small number of people are timid and timid in character and dare not fight against evil forces. Those who lose journalistic ethics find it hard to resist the temptation of money to fall into the wrong camp and end up on trial. The images of these journalists reflect that the public regards journalists as the mouthpieces of the people and hopes to change the dark social reality through their reports. The images of journalists in modern Chinese literature also enrich our understanding of the activities and professional images of journalists before the founding of the People's Republic of China.
