A Study Of Beijing Opera Adaptation Of Lao She's Works

The relationship between Beijing Quju and Lao She began with the performance of Willow Well in 1952.By 2020,Beijing Quju has adapted 10 of Lao She's works,among which 5 are adapted from novels and 4 are adapted from dramas.According to the statistics of Beijing Quju Troupe in October 2020,Beijing Quju adapted Lao She's works have been performed a total of 1015 times in China,and relevant works have been given exchange performances in Taiwan many times.This master's degree thesis takes Lao She's works adapted from Beijing Quju as the research object.The main research content of the thesis is divided into two parts:The first part is the adaptation of Lao She's works by Beijing Quju.The second part is the adaptation of Lao She's works and the construction of Beijing Quju,and also discusses the enlightenment of the adaptation of Quju to the adaptation of drama,film,television and other emerging Xiqu.The thesis' s introduction introduces the research significance,achievements and methods of this topic.The text is divided into two chapters.The first chapter introduces the Beijing Quju's adaptation of Lao She's 10 novels,plays and other works in terms of themes,characters and artistic styles.According to the progressive artistic level of the works,it can be divided into three stages: "germination stage","development stage" and "maturity stage".The second chapter discusses the adaptation of Lao She's works and the construction of Beijing Quju.It first introduces the expansion and application of Beijing Quju to Lao She's works,then analyzes the problems beyond the adaptation of Lao She's works from three aspects: the construction of quju literature,the limitation of subject matter and the misunderstanding in creation,and ponds over the choice of Beijing Quju in the post-Lao She era.Finally,it discusses the significance of Beijing Quju's repertory to other creative adaptations from two aspects: the enlightenment of Beijing Quju's adaptation to Lao She's drama,film and television adaptation,and the demonstration of Beijing Quju's exploration to the emerging Xiqu types after the founding of the People's Republic of China.This thesis has extensively collected relevant materials including scripts,literature,interviews and performance data,and through the analysis of works,has tedied out a development context of Beijing Quju,discussed the interaction between Beijing Quju and the adaptation of Lao She's works,and considered the gains and losses of Beijing Quju in the adaptation of Lao She's works.
