The original text of this translation practice report is selected from The Virtual Public Servant: Artificial Intelligence and Frontline Work.The main content of it is about the emerging artificial intelligence technologies in recent years and how to apply them to government work and public administration to help front-line civil servants work.First of all,the original text is a public administration work,but because it takes artificial intelligence as the theme,it also has the characteristics of the scientific and technological text.From the perspective of lexical features,this text involves a large number of proper nouns and professional terms,and most of the terms are scientific and technological terms;the text mainly uses literary language,so there are many nominalized phrases in the original text;in addition,nearly 30% of the original text is interview dialogue,and there are many anaphora phenomena in the process of oral communication.Therefore,based on Newmark' s communicative translation strategy,this thesis adopts amplification,annotation,and transference in vocabulary translation;nominalized phrases are flexibly changed into verb object phrases,subject-predicate phrases,and clauses;for anaphora in dialogue,lexical repetition and ellipsis are adopted to deal with personal anaphoras and demonstrative anaphoras in the original text.Finally,this thesis puts forward the translation methods and strategies suitable for this type of text by comparing,analyzing,and summarizing the first translation and the modified translation to provide some references for the translation of similar texts later.
