A Contrastive Study Of The Verb Make V+O+C Kind Of Detour Caused By Non-English Majors In High And Low Grades | Posted on:2022-12-07 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | Country:China | Candidate:D J Han | Full Text:PDF | GTID:2515306614457224 | Subject:Foreign Linguistics | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | Causative relation refers to the causative situation constituted by causing event and caused event.This paper deeply explores the differences between Chinese low-grade and high-grade non-English major students and native university students when using the colligation: Make V+O+C,and also makes a comparative study on the usage of this colligation between high-grade and low-grade learners.The research methods in this paper include Corpus-based Research,Contrastive Interlanguage Analysis and Combination of Quantitative and Qualitative Analysis.The results show that,compared with native speakers,both Chinese low-grade and high-grade non-English major students tend to underuse V+O+AP and V+O+NP colligations;when V+O+AP is used,positive semantic prosody is preferred,which is quite different from the neutral semantic prosody used by native speakers;in terms of usage frequency and error frequency,there is no correlation between learners' proficiency in the colligation and their foreign language level,but there is a positive correlation in semantic prosody.This study aims to provide some suggestions for deep vocabulary learning and corpus-aided foreign language teaching. | Keywords/Search Tags: | periphrastic causative, Make V+O+C, colligation, semantic prosody, error analysis | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
