This English-Chinese translation material is selected from the book Teachers as Professional Learners,which mainly introduces the importance of keeping professional learning for new teachers and calls on schools to strengthen professional guidance for new teachers.This book aims to get new teachers to recognize the benefits of professional learning and become professional learners.The author selects chapters 5and 6 of the book as translation materials,which mainly discuss the everyday problems of new teachers in teaching and then propose corresponding solutions.This translation text is professional and accurate in wording,and concise in language style.Furthermore,there are numerous uses of compound sentences.Based on the characteristics of this translation text,this dissertation summarizes the problems encountered in this translation practice and the solutions used at three levels.Firstly,in terms of words,the dissertation analyzes the use of three translation methods,namely part-of-speech conversion,contextual analysis,and amplification.Secondly,in terms of sentences,the dissertation discusses the use of two translation methods: sentence structure adjustment and division.In addition,the translation of passive sentences is discussed.Finally,in terms of discourse,the methods of reference and conjunction are summarized.It is hoped that this practice will provide some reference for the translation of similar texts in the future.
