Research On Women's Costume Modeling And Its Application In Chinese Films

In the long process of civilization development,clothing has become a symbol,not only a personal symbol,but also a national symbol and a cultural symbol.Costume styling is one of the most crucial props and visual elements in Chinese films,and it is a vital means for films to portray characters and convey feelings to the audience.Since modern times,China has experienced special historical changes.The Communist Party of China has always taken women's liberation and equality between men and women as its goal.Female costumes in China has also undergone tremendous changes.In different periods,female costumes in Chinese films presents different appearances and reflect the cultural connotation of different eras.The research object of this paper is female costumes in Chinese films.Firstly,classified and analyzed the classic female costumes in Chinese films.There are female costumes styling with oriental charm and female costumes styling with western elements divided by the geography;There are ancient costume clothing styling and fashion clothing styling divided by the age;There are realistic costume styling and ideographic costume styling divided by different aesthetic styles.In addition,there are two special costumes,women disguised as men and postmodernism,each of which has its own specific shape and connotation.There are three main aspects in the application of female costumes in Chinese films.Firstly,from the perspective of narration,female costumes can be used for flexible narration in films,which can not only reflect the background of the times and explain the theme of the works,but also participate in building characters and promoting plot development;Secondly,from the visual point of view,the female costumes can be used to create oriental aesthetic and fantasy visual wonders;Finally,female costumes can be used for imagery metaphor and emotion metaphor.In imagery metaphor,female costumes can promote cognitive focus and logical self-consistency.In emotional metaphor,female costumes affects the direction and depth of emotional expression in films.Female costumes in Chinese films not only has profound cultural connotations,but also certain social communication effects.As a cultural symbol of "gender gaze" and "gender materialization",there is a certain degree of deviation from the subjective demands of feminism,which is controversial.From the perspective of social communication,combining classical culture with modern aesthetics,Chinese female costumes styling forms the symbol of oriental clothing culture,and then goes to the world,to blend and collide with western culture;producing fashion and consumption effects in society,establishing fashion models and weakens fashion differences,guiding the public's visual aesthetics and promoting its cultural taste,but it also has a negative influence on the spread of consumerism to certain degree.Female costumes in Chinese films were mainly cheongsam in the early phase,revolutionary clothing in the middle phase,and different kinds of types and styles in the later phase;In respect of aesthetic concept,female costumes styling in Chinese films has also experienced the development and change from pursuing the beauty of images to narrative function,from realism to vivid expression and bold outline.Currently the development of female costumes styling in Chinese film and television is constantly exploring and innovating nationalization and localization,but the lack of film themes around the topic of clothing and the lack of reward mechanism in Mainland have all limited the further development of female costumes,nevertheless,in the design of female costumes,there are problems of paying attention to artistic conception while ignoring connotation,catering to commerciality rather than pursuing artistic feeling.Chinese films have huge potential for improvement in female costumes styling.
