Louise Bourgeois(1911——2010)was a French American artist.Since the 1940 s,she has been actively involved in the forefront of the art trend of the times.Beginning with the European Dadaism movement, she was an active pioneer in the modern art movement. From painting to sculpture to creating so-called "formless" installations,Bourgeois has been exploring and shifting modes of expression throughout her career. In her career of more than 70 years, this cross-century artist has created various forms of expression and tried in different fields(such as painting,sculpture,installation,collage,etc.).This article focuses on the in-depth discussion and study of the artistic language in Bourgeois' s works. It mainly includes color, material, form of expression(from two-dimensional to three-dimensional spatial transformation from painting to sculpture and finally to device)and selection of objects with metaphorical symbols, etc. So as to excavate the extended meaning and value behind the works of Bourgeois.Viewers have a deeper "three-dimensional" understanding of Bourgeois. At the same time, this also has certain inspiration for the author's own artistic creation.Based on this,we mainly study from three aspects.First of all,the author will trace the origin of Bourgeois' s creative ideas, mainly from the era background, cultural environment, life experience, emotional experience and previous artists' influence on her artistic creation.Secondly, taking specific works as examples, this paper deeply interprets the artistic language in Bourgeois' s works from four aspects:color, material(silk thread, rare art materials, etc.),form(painting, sculpture, installation)and symbolic images. Finally, the author summarizes the diversified artistic styles in the works of Bourgeois, elaborates the significance of her works and their influence on the author's creation.
