Research On Illustration Design Of Popular Science Magazines From The Perspective Of Image Narrative

Science and technology is one of the most important resources of human society,and popular science magazines are important carriers of scientific and technological information dissemination,and important channels for the successful transformation of scientific and technological achievements into productive forces.The survival and development of magazines are closely related to the trend of science and technology.The United States has the most developed publishing industry in the world,and the publication and subscription of popular science magazines are maintaining a rapid growth,playing a role in spreading and guiding popular science knowledge in the society.In the United States with a high level of popular science journals,in addition to scientific and authoritative scientific articles,there are many color sharp images added,the content of the article in the scientific knowledge of the abstract,visualize,at the same time,also promote the magazine's aesthetic and interesting,especially the art form of illustration images.However,the popular science magazines in China are still in the primary stage of development,the quality of localized magazines is generally low,and the illustrations in popular science magazines also have defects in quality and aesthetics.Through the method of case study and the analysis and comparison of excellent foreign popular science magazines,the author finally decided to analyze the illustration design of popular science magazines in Scientific American,and tried to summarize how the illustrations of different popular science magazines narrated and disseminated the popular science content.As a basic form of language expression and communication,image narrative has been widely used in various fields of information communication.Illustration design,as an important way of visual information communication,is also highly respected in illustration design.Through literature analysis,case analysis,comparative analysis and interdisciplinary research methods,with the help of the related theory of image narrative,the author explores the application status,expression form and application characteristics of the image narrative of popular science magazine illustration,and analyzes the complete narrative process of popular science magazine illustration.It aims to provide new ideas for illustration design in domestic popular science magazines,improve the content quality of domestic popular science magazines,and pay attention to the brand building of popular science magazines.This paper is mainly divided into five parts,the first part of the introduction is mainly to introduce the research background,research significance,research content,research methods,research status quo and through the frame diagram of the paper to show the whole research framework of the paper,for the next paper to develop a good preparation work;The first chapter mainly explains the image narrative theory and the concept of popular science magazine illustration.Through the analysis of the historical evolution and narrative strategy of the image narrative,the whole behavior process of the image narrative is summarized.And through the analysis of the development status,development characteristics and development trend of the popular science magazine illustration,the author fully understands it.The second chapter is based on the research of image narrative theory in the first chapter of "Scientific American" in the popular science magazine illustration development present situation,the performance of the narrative method,the use of narrative features,the performance of narrative visual elements and narrative style which five aspects carries on the analysis,to explore the science magazine of the perspective of image narrative illustration of the design thinking and design methods,and provides some design for domestic popular science magazine illustration after;The third chapter is to analyze the cultural causes of Scientific American's illustration design and the enlightenment received in the research process.The fourth chapter innovates the design of illustrations in domestic popular science magazines from the perspective of image narrative.By discovering the problems existing in the illustrations in encyclopedia knowledge and combining the above research on the illustration design of Scientific American popular science magazine,the author rebuilds the scheme,which is a process of converting theory into practice.The final conclusion and exhibition are mainly a summary of the research content and hope to provide effective new ideas for the illustration design of domestic popular science magazines.
