Since the Second World War,Russo-Japanese territorial dispute(or the Southern Kurils issue)has not been resolved,and it has become an important factor influencing the relationship between Russia and Japan.The dissertation mainly focuses on the evolution of Russia's policy on the Southern Kurils after the Cold War;discusses the Russian Government policy on the Southern Kurils in different periods from 1991 the Yeltsin era,then Putin's first presidential term and Medvedev's tenure to nowadays;analyzes international and domestic factors which affect changes of Russia's policy on the Southern Kurils.Finally,the dissertation tries to propose a specific solution to the Southern Kurils issue by evaluating gains and losses,and particular features of Russia's policy on the Southern Kurils. |
