The “Synthesis and Practice” of junior high school mathematics is a new content field set up in addition to Algebra,Geometry,Statistics and Ratio in Mathematics Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2011 edition),which is a highlight of the new curriculum reform.This paper targets the teaching situation of “Synthesis and Practice” in a junior high school mathematics in Xi'an as research objects and identifies research on specific issues as follows.What's the current teaching status of “Synthesis and Practice” in junior high school mathematics? What are the problems in the implementation of “Synthesis and Practice” and problem arising?Through the methods of literature review,questionnaire,interview and observation,this paper conducts a detailed analysis about the status quo of the “Synthesis and Practice” teaching and the problems in the implementation process.Taking some mathematics teachers and teaching administrators as the interviewees,this paper summarizes some difficulties in carrying out “Synthesis and Practice” in junior high school mathematics,and gives targeted suggestions for the existing problems.This paper aims to provide some reference for mathematics teachers in the specific operation of “Synthesis and Practice” in junior high school mathematics.The present study has been found to points out the teaching status of “Synthesis and Practice” as follows.The content and form of the textbook are novel,but the number of topics is less;Teachers and students can know the existence of this field in the textbooks,but they don't know enough about the specific content;Teachers and students are well-prepared before the class and students are enthusiastic about participation;The teaching method is single,and there is no effective teaching strategy;The learning effect of “Synthesis and Practice” was not evaluated effectively.There are some problems in the development of “Synthesis and Practice” teaching.First,teachers lack the understanding of the “Synthesis and Practice” content;Second,the classroom atmosphere is not active;Third,the mathematical "comprehensive and practical" evaluation system is not perfect.The main reasons for these problems are as follows:firstly,the state lacks teacher training guarantee to guide the “Synthesis and Practice”teaching;secondly,the school lacks the powerful hardware and software facilities to guarantee the teaching;finally,the direction of the proposition of the senior high school is lack of examination of students' comprehensive ability.Combined with relevant theories,this paper puts forward suggestions for teachers,schools and examination departments to deepen teaching.Teachers should deepen their understanding of "Synthesis and Practice" and change ideas to establish diversified evaluation methods.Schools should provide teachers with space-time environment and teaching aid to carry out “Synthesis and Practice” and encourage teachers to form the characteristic teaching and research team on "Synthesis and Practice".Examination departments try to establish an effective evaluation and supervision mechanism to promote the professional skills of teachers,and compile appropriate "Synthesis and Practice" teaching materials.
