Mechanical motion is closely related to our daily life and it matters a lot in middle school physics. With the deepening of the curriculum revolution, the problem of mechanical motion has become a hot topic for examinations. However, students only learned uniform linear motion and what they learned was relatively easy so they made no clearly distinction of these concepts. This led to different degrees of confusion when entering the mechanical motion chapter in high school.Mechanical motion is closely connected with carve motion, electromagnetic fields etc.to be learned later,so it is one of the important contents in the entire high school physics learning. This article attempts to use the theory of SOLO classification(SOLO in English: structure of the observed learning outcome)to investigate the cognitive situation of high school students' mechanical motion and to explore the recognition of high school students' mechanical motion characteristics and to analyze the factors that affect high school students' mechanical movement cognition. The traditional learning evaluation method is mainly carried out through examinations, mainly in quantitative form, focusing only on the evaluation results. While the SOLO classification theory focuses on the evaluation of students learning quality combining processes and results to explore students' thinking patterns. The research in this article mainly consists of the following aspects.Firstly, based on the SOLO classification theory, establishing standards for cognition levels of liner exercise in junior and senior high schools.Secondly, performing qualitative evaluation of students' answers to study the differences and correlations between different classes. Finally, analyzing the current status of students learning of linear motion learning and proposing corresponding teaching suggestions according to the evaluation results. The main conclusions drawn from the study are as follows:(1)Selected sampleschools' cognitive level of uniformly variable linear motion, the cognitive level of understanding about the concept of linear motion is significantly higher than the cognitive level of formulas and the application of laws. And it is in an extended abstract structure in the application of formulas and laws that the number is relatively small.(2)For different classes, the overall cognition level of the senior two experimental class is significantly higher than that of the senior one and the parallel sophomore class.(3)From the perspective of different genders, there is no significant difference in the distribution of overall cognitive levels in terms of gender.(4)The main factors affecting high school students' awareness of SOLO level of uniformly variable linear motion include textbook factors, teacher factors, student factors and college entrance examination factors. Finally, based on the research in this paper, some suggestions for reference and theoretical guidance are given.
