Since Chinese language was included into the national education curriculum of Indonesian high schools,in order to determine whether or not students have reached the high school graduation requirements,each school have to conduct a Chinese language final test for students based on the examination outline issued by Indonesian education and culture ministry.There are two main types of test,one is an oral test that examines the practical use of spoken Chinese language by students,and the other is written test that examines students' ability to understand,master,and using Chinese language pronunciation,vocabulary,grammar,and Chinese characters correctly.In order to examine,characteristics,and current problems in Chinese language final exams in Indonesian high schools,this article mainly analyzes the Chinese language final exams from 25 high schools in Jakarta and surrounding areas.First,compared the examination papers' s content from 25 high schools with the high school's Chinese language exams outline issued by the Indonesian government.Through comparative analysis,it was found that most of the 25 test papers were written according to the test outlines that given by the government,but not 100% were written according to the requirements of the government outlines.Each set of exam papers have its own characteristics.Secondly,classified and analyzed specific test content from the 25 sets of test,the comparative analysis was performed according to pronunciation,vocabulary,grammar,Chinese characters and so on.Through comparative analysis,it was found that the content and focus of the 25 sets examination papers in pronunciation,vocabulary,grammar,Chinese characters and other aspects were very different.The main focus was on vocabulary and grammar,but the content of pronunciation and culture did not appear in some examination papers.In addition,this article also got various restrictions such as the Chinese teacher's own level,teaching arrangements,and other problems.The test paper itself also has problems such as unclear descriptions and there were more than one answer available for multiple-choice question.Finally,based on the analysis of the previous articles,combined with interviews with Chinese language teachers in Indonesian high schools,this article propose some suggestions to improve Indonesian high school final examinations,mainly from the perspective of government,schools,and the test paper writings.Hopefully through this paper research,it will help Chinese language teaching in Indonesian high schools,and the final tests will be better implemented in the future.
