As one of the basic abilities of mathematics, mathematical operation ability directly affects the development of other mathematical abilities. The eighth grade is a critical period for the development of mathematics ability, therefore, this research first determines the current status of the mathematics abilities of the eighth grade students in the sample school, and then proposes operational training strategies. This research is based on motivational attribution theory, constructivism theory and "Compulsory Education Curriculum Standard(2011 Edition)",using testing methods, survey methods, experimental methods and interview methods,to determine the current status of the eighth grade students' numeracy ability. The results show that,In terms of calculation ability: students do not have a good understanding of concepts, formulas, and rules related to calculations;they lack good examination and analysis habits, often misunderstand questions or cannot get the key informations;students often just use oral arithmetic or mental arithmetic in the exercises, which has not formed a good habit;students often lack of awareness of algorithm optimization and complicated calculation steps;they lack of reasoning and analysis ability in calculation. In terms of the emotional attitude of computing: students are interested in computing but lose a lot of points;self-attribution of insufficient computing is an internal controllable component;some students do not pay attention to computing.Through the research on the status quo,a feasible strategy for cultivating the arithmetic ability of eighth grade students is proposed from the perspectives of knowledge, habits and emotions. In terms of the mastery of calculation knowledge:teachers demonstrate complete calculation steps to allow students to form the correct primary cause effect;they can carefully distinguish related calculation knowledge;and constantly infiltrate mathematical thinking methods. In terms of operation habits:strengthen and guide students to analyze the questions;standardize the answer format. In terms of the emotional attitude of computing:students need pay more attention to the computing process and increase the importance of computing;strengthen the summary and reflection of computing problems, cultivate students' awareness of optimization of algorithms;attach importance to positive emotional guidance, and cultivate students' good computing psychological quality. In order to test the effectiveness of the training strategy,a four-month teaching implementation aimed at improving the mathematics ability of eighth grade students was carried out.Select "Quadic Radical Mixed Operation" and "Solving Binary Linear Equations-Addition,Subtraction and Elimination Method" as examples. The control class follows the traditional teaching model, and the experimental class integrates the above training on the basis of the control class. The results of the experiment show that, the students' arithmetical ability in the experimental class has improved, and the scoring rate of the arithmetic exercises has reached the standard;there is a significant gap in the more difficult arithmetic problems;and the emotional attitude towards mathematical operations has changed positively. So,if teachers use the above-mentioned teaching strategies reasonable, then can improve students' mathematical calculation ability and improve the development of other mathematical abilities.
