Mathematical reading runs through the whole process of primary and secondary school students' mathematics learning.Having good mathematical reading ability helps to improve students' autonomous learning ability and has an important impact on students' understanding and mastery of mathematical knowledge.Therefore,it is indispensable to study the current situation of students' mathematics reading ability.The main research questions of the article are:(1)What is the current situation of mathematics reading among the eighth-grade students in Urumqi?(2)What is the math reading ability of the eighth grade students in Urumqi?(3)What are the factors that affect the mathematics reading of the eighth-grade students in Urumqi?Based on the literature review,the core concepts "mathematical reading" and"mathematical reading ability" were defined,the "Questionnaire on Mathematical Reading Status of Grade 8 Students in Urumqi" and the "Mathematics Reading Ability of Grade 8 Students in Urumqi City" were designed.Test Paper",taking some 8th grade students from two middle schools in Urumqi,Xinjiang as the research object,to analyze the current situation of mathematics reading and mathematics reading ability of the 8th grade students in Urumqi,combined with interviews with students and teachers,comprehensively analyze the influencing factors,and put forward relevant suggestions.After investigation,it was found that the current situation of students' mathematics reading:(1)Most students agree with the importance of mathematics reading,but they have poor motivation and rely too much on teachers and parents;(2)Most students consciously use mathematics reading for preview,but they rarely pass Mathematical reading is reviewed,and the amount of extracurricular reading is very limited;(3)most students will adopt a variety of strategies to help themselves in mathematical reading;(4)most teachers will give students experience-based mathematics reading guidance,but the guidance methods are limited;(5)The environment for students to read mathematics is limited,and there is no atmosphere for mathematics reading in schools.Students' mathematical reading ability:(1)The students' mathematical reading ability is at a general level,with strong model recognition ability,weak language translation ability,reading transfer ability,conceptual understanding ability and reading metacognitive ability;There are difficulties in the conversion of the three mathematical languages,the translation ability of basic graphics and symbolic languages is strong,and the translation ability of complex mathematical languages is weak;(3)Students have great difficulties in reading metacognitive ability,and lack of self-reading process.monitoring.There are three main influencing factors: intelligence factors,internal non-intelligence factors,and external factors.The intellectual factors mainly include the students' own reading transfer ability,conceptual understanding ability,language translation ability,information screening ability,logical reasoning ability and metacognitive ability.The main factors are reading materials,teacher guidance and external environmental factors.Through the analysis of the survey samples,on the basis of the research results,the article puts forward several training strategies from the aspects of reading awareness,reading environment,teacher guidance,reading metacognition and internal mathematical reading ability training:(1)Fully Use teaching materials to cultivate students' interest in mathematics reading;(2)create a reading environment and broaden reading horizons;(3)teachers guide reading and teach students according to their aptitude;(4)cultivate students' mathematical reading metacognitive strategies;(5)strengthen mathematics reading practice.
