Concept is the core content of junior high school biology learning.The "Compulsory Education Biology Curriculum Standard(2011 Edition)" emphasizes important concepts and emphasizes inquiry learning.However,in many junior high school biology classroom teaching,teachers ignore the student's dominant position and the thinking process of constructing concepts,and do not pay attention to the connection between concepts,which leads to problems such as poor conceptual construction effects and lack of interest in learning.The American mathematics educator Dubinsky put forward the APOS theory for the construction of mathematical concepts.The APOS theory believes that the concept construction must go through the action stage,the process stage,the object stage,and the schema stage.Perceive concepts in the activity stage,internalize abstract concepts in the process stage,refine concepts in the object stage,connect concepts in the schema stage,which is suitable for the teaching of abstract concepts.Biological concepts are also abstract,to help junior high school students to better construct biological concepts,this research tries to apply APOS theory to the teaching of junior high school biology concepts,to explore whether APOS theory can help students construct concepts,enhance students' scientific thinking and inquiry ability,and improve students' learning emotions.The significance of this research is to explore the effectiveness of the application of APOS theory in the teaching of biology concepts in junior high schools,to further improve the construction of strategies for using APOS theory to teach biology concepts and to provide teaching cases.This research first adopts the interview survey method.Through the interview survey of junior high school biology teachers on concept teaching,it is found that teachers lack understanding of APOS theory,and the links of actual classroom concept teaching have similarities with the four stages of APOS theory.Therefore,it is possible to apply APOS theory to the teaching of biological concepts.Then take the second volume of the seventh grade of "Biology" published by Beijing Normal University as an example to sort out the conceptual hierarchy,which will help teachers clarify the relationship between the conceptual hierarchy and better guide students to construct concepts.Then on the basis of the existing research,combined with the characteristics of biology,further improve the construction of teaching strategies based on the APOS theory and carry out teaching design based on the strategies.At the same time,the principles of using APOS theory for conceptual teaching are put forward,and finally the practical research is carried out.In the practical research,the classroom observation method,the experimental research method,and the questionnaire survey method are used.Two classes of different levels are selected as the experimental research objects.Both classes are based on the APOS theory for more than two months of teaching research.Both classes have conducted pre-test and post-test.The data from the "Students' Biology Learning Self-test Survey Scale" shows that the learning interest and attitude,concept recognition and application of the two classes have been significantly improved(p<0.05),and there is a certain degree of scientific thinking and inquiry improvement(post-test average increase);data from the "Student Classroom Learning Observation Scale" shows that the classroom learning status of the two classes has improved(post-test average increase);self-edited test data show that the academic performance of the two classes all have a significant improvement(p<0.05).The above results show that combining the characteristics of the biology subject to construct a biological concept teaching strategy based on the APOS theory is more suitable for biology teaching;the application of APOS theory in junior high school biology concept teaching is helpful for concept construction and literacy improvement of students;the application of APOS theory in junior high school biology concept teaching improves the emotional attitude of students.
