A Study On The Current Situation Of The Use Of Research Methods In Middle School Mathematics Education

This study adopts content analysis method to conduct statistical analysis on 400 articles on middle school mathematics education from CNKI journal database in terms of research paradigm,research methods,research fields and researchers.The purpose of this study is to describe the current situation of the use of research methods in the middle school mathematics education research in China in recent years,to explore the existing problems,to find ways to improve or solve the problems,to promote the improvement of the use of methods in middle school mathematics education research,and to promote the improvement of the quality of middle school mathematics education research.In order to more effective guidance and improve the middle school mathematics education teaching practice.After obtaining data through coding and statistics,the author analyzes the overall situation of the research method,the specific situation of its use in the past five years,the researchers' use of the research method in various journals,various research fields,and the researchers' use of the research method,etc.,and draws the following conclusions:(1)In the research of middle school mathematics education,the research paradigm is mainly non-positive research and speculative research.(2)In the non-speculative research,the research methods are mainly survey research,field research and literature research,and the utilization rate of experimental research is low.(3)The research frequency of teaching field is the highest,and the research methods used in different research fields are quite different.(4)Among the researchers,the proportion of university and other researchers is the largest,which is about 25% higher than that of middle school math teachers.(5)The three kinds of mathematical periodicals have great differences in the use of research methods.(6)People pay more attention to the quality of empirical research than to the quality of qualitative research.Through comparative analysis with existing relevant studies,the author further finds that:(1)In the research of middle school mathematics education,the utilization rate of speculative research is always high,but the utilization rate of this method is lower in the core journals.(2)Literature research is a feature of middle school mathematics education research in China's mainland,and the utilization rate of experimental research is very low.(3)Research in the field of "teaching" was the most frequent,whether based on core journals or not.(4)Poor cross-group cooperation.(5)Middle school mathematics teachers pay poor attention to the quality of qualitative research.Finally,according to the problems found in the investigation,the author puts forward the corresponding improvement suggestions.On the one hand,this study helps us to understand the current situation of the use of research methods in the middle school mathematics education research in recent years,review the "excellent" and "insufficient",reflect on the effectiveness of the education research we have done,and whether it has effectively promoted the improvement of education and teaching practice.On the other hand,in view of the problems,the author also put forward the corresponding improvement suggestions,for the reference of the follow-up researchers.The discovery of the problem can promote subsequent researchers to pay more attention to research methods,improve the use of research methods,and then gradually improve the quality of middle school mathematics education research,better promote the development of middle school mathematics education.
