After years of development and reform,a pluralistic and open moral education system has been gradually formed on the basis of rich concrete theories and practical forms,which is practical and operable to a certain extent,but also exposes some drawbacks in the development process.The ideological and political education in colleges and universities in our country is the focus of the ideological and political education of contemporary college students,and it should conform to the trend of The Times and take moral education as the fundamental task of political education in colleges and universities.Insisting on the guidance of Marxist methodology,this paper summarizes the development course,theoretical basis and content of moral education in American colleges and universities,striving to provide effective reference for ideological and political education in Chinese colleges and universities.This paper mainly discusses from the following four aspects:First,introduction.The purpose and significance of studying the moral education in American colleges and universities are generally expounded,and the research status,research ideas and methods of the moral education system in colleges and universities at home and abroad are sorted out,which lays the foundation for the following research contents.Second,an overview of moral education in American universities.The differences between moral education and ideological and political education,the connotation of moral education and the moral education in American colleges and universities are listed.Based on the relevant concepts,the American colleges and universities are roughly positioned,and then the changes in their development process can be divided into four development stages according to the time period: From the end of the 18 th century to the beginning of the 19 th century,secularization changes,from the 19 th century to the beginning of the 20 th century,from the Second World War to the 1970 s,from attention to decline,from the 1980 s to the present in the reflection of the integration of revival,in the change and development to explore the social thoughts that have a significant impact on college moral education in each period of time.Thirdly,it introduces the basic content of moral education in American colleges and universities,and lists the common ways of general education,voluntary service and religious education,and analyzes their inherent political,practical and diverse characteristics,then makes an objective evaluation,and analyzes their inherent political,practical and diversified characteristics to make an objective evaluation and analyze their rationality and limitations.The fourth part based on the above,draws lessons from the successful experience of American colleges and universities,starts from adhering to the humanistic oriented education goal,improving the ideological and political education strategy and optimizing the micro environment of Ideological and political education,and constantly improves and perfects the current education methods and strategies based on the actual development of our country,so as to promote the development of Ideological and political education in Colleges and universities in our country towards a more scientific direction.
