The Biology Curriculum Standards for General Senior High Schools issued in 2017 emphasized the importance of core concepts of biology.It pointed out that students should master the core concepts on the premise of learning knowledge,so as to understand the practical application of scientific knowledge in social life and develop interest in scientific inquiry.And HPS teaching model as a research hotspot in recent years,emphasizing on the history of science as the main clue of teaching process,logical reasoning in philosophy of science view,creative application and extension in sociology of science,is advantageous to the students a deeper understanding of core concepts and applications,so the HPS teaching mode used in the design of the core concepts of the teaching research has a great advantage.This paper mainly uses four methods: literature research,experiment,questionnaire survey and statistical analysis.The author first expounds the research background from two aspects“core concept teaching is the basis of cultivating students' quality,and HPS teaching mode is beneficial to core concept teaching”.Then the author summarized the research status at home and abroad,determined the purpose,significance,ideas and methods of the research,and summarized the meaning of the core concepts,teaching strategies,theoretical basis and related content of HPS education.Then the author expounds the significance of teaching design of core biology concepts using HPS model.On this basis,the chapter of compulsory 2 "The Nature of Genes" was analyzed with core concepts and contents of HPS,and the content suitable for HPS teaching was interpreted by concept classification.According to the basic principles of instructional design,according to the six steps of the HPS teaching model,and integrating the teaching procedures of the core concepts,the teaching process of the core concepts based on the HPS teaching model is constructed,including five steps: creating the context introduction to stimulate students' interest;Design efficient problems to stimulate the motivation of exploration;Reviewing the historical facts of science and exploring the essence of concept;Group cooperation to explore,deepen conceptual understanding;Summarize,consolidate and promote concept construction.Based on the constructed teaching process,a teaching case was designed for the chapter "The Nature of Genes",and 198 senior high school students from Qing zhou No.3Middle School in Wei fang City,Shandong Province were taken as the research objects.Before teaching practice,pre-test questions were prepared to test the homogeneity of students in the experimental group and the control group.The experimental group adopted the HPS teaching mode,while the control group adopted the traditional teaching mode.After practice,post-test questions and questionnaires were used for testing,and software SPSS23.0 was used to process and analyze the data.The results show that,compared with traditional teaching mode,HPS teaching mode has better teaching effect,although there is no significant difference in the construction of secondary concepts,but there is difference in the construction of important concepts and core concepts.In addition,through the questionnaire survey,it is found that the HPS teaching mode has more advantages in the cultivation of students' critical spirit,exploration spirit and cooperation ability,so HPS teaching mode has certain advantages in cultivating students' core quality of biology.
