Geometry teaching has always been a field that has received much attention in mathematics teaching. With the ‘Compulsory Education Mathematics Curriculum Standard(2011 Edition)' clarifying the requirements for spatial concepts, the promotion of spatial concepts has become one of the essential tasks of geometry learning.Origami,as a manual activity closely integrated with mathematics, has gradually been given the value of mathematics education due to its rich and diverse manifestations in spatial graphics.Origami activities cannot only make up for students' specific feelings of spatial changes from plane to three-dimensional,but also unfolding and flipping in the folding process contains mathematical principles. The author's practice school has its characteristic extension courses.Still, through investigation,it was found that there is a lack of extension courses based on mathematics in the course system of extension courses. As a new classroom model, extension courses can maintain students based on transferring knowledge. His interest in learning is of great development value. Therefore, through investigation and research, the author developed and implemented an origami extension course with the primary purpose of enhancing students' concept of mathematics space. This article has the following three research questions:(1)What' s the status quo of the spatial concept of sixth-grade students?(2)How to develop and implement the Origami Expansion Class for improving the spatial idea of sixth-graders?(3)What impact does the Origami Expansion Class have on sixth-grade students? In response to the above research questions, the author develops the Origami Extension Course from the following aspects.First, the research objects are analyzed to determine the feasibility of the course development, including the use of questionnaires to understand the status quo of students' cognition of origami and mathematics. The test method understands the status quo of students' concept of space, and the interview method understands the teacher's suggestions and experience for the origami extension class. The second is to design and implement the origami course, determine the specific plan for the implementation of the course, give a representative case analysis, and finally obtain the influence of the extended course on students' emotions and spatial concepts through the post-test survey of questionnaires and test papers. In the end, this article has the following research conclusions:(1)Sixth grade students have formed basic spatial concepts and can recognize and perform simple operations on static images, but students cannot do a comprehensive analysis of the dynamic changes of complex three-dimensional graphics. There is still much great room for them to improve.(2)The development of the origami extension course used to enhance the space concept of junior high school students needs to go through the following steps: analysis and investigation of the research objects, formation of classes, formulation of curriculum goals and curriculum content according to the status quo of the students' space concept, and design to enhance the space concept The teaching principles and teaching strategies, the arrangement of systematic courses, and the implementation and evaluation of systems.(3)The influence of the Origami Expansion Class on sixth-grade students is mainly reflected in the following two aspects.First, the students' concept of space has been significantly improved.Students have made significant progress in the mental operation of three-dimensional graphics such as the ability to read pictures and rotation. The second is the improvement of students' interest in mathematics learning, and they are willing to take the initiative to learn mathematics knowledge in the form of origami, and be able to realize the practical value of mathematics.
