With the rapid development of the times and the emergence of new scientific discoveries and high and new technologies,STEM education has emerged as the times require.STEM education is a new form of education integrated by four core courses, science, technology, engineering and mathematics.Primary school science curriculum,as the enlightenment and basic subject of students,is the main carrier of STEM education in China at present, and plays an important role in cultivating talents with STEM literacy.Based On constructivist learning theory and pragmatism theory, this paper takes some third and fourth grade primary school students in Chongqing as the research objects.Through classroom observation, questionnaire survey,STEM literacy self-assessment,teacher interviews and other research methods, the aim of this paper is to understand how teachers cultivate students' STEM literacy and the real level of students' STEM literacy in science classroom from multi-level and multi-angle,as well as the problems teachers encounter in cultivating students' STEM literacy. On the basis of the above research, this paper discusses the role of science teachers in STEM literacy and the reasons that restrict the improvement of STEM literacy of primary school students in China.Through classroom observation, evaluation of STEM literacy level of some third and fourth grade students, and interviews with relevant science teachers,we can draw the following conclusions about the impact of primary school science classroom implementation on students' STEM literacy:(1)Science courses enhance students' STEM ability;(2)Science courses enrich students' subject knowledge;(3)Lack of corresponding STEM literacy standards may affect classroom efficiency;(4)The single teaching mode of science curriculum restricts the improvement of students' STEM literacy;(5)The quality of teachers is uneven,as well as the development of STEM literacy of students. Finally, the corresponding suggestions and strategies are put forward.
