The majority of research on the topic of team effectiveness is based on data from Western countries. However,Eastern countries such as China, possess unique variables having an influence on team effectiveness that are not experienced in Western countries.Through the incorporation of these variables,a portfolio of the teamwork skills and abilities of the Chinese students at SWUFE can be generated.Students were chosen for this research as they are involved in group based activities on a frequent basis developing their teamwork skills throughout their time at university.Acquiring data on the students' abilities can assist SWUFE,as well as the students,to gain a better understanding about their current skill levels. This will enable them [SWUFE and the students] to identify areas for improvement, and increase the students'teamwork skills in general.Data obtained for the research was gathered from the student population through the use of an online questionnaire, and from secondary sources. The questionnaire was designed to capture several factors affecting the effectiveness of teams.Students at SWUFE have been found to exhibit above average levels of teamwork skills and abilities.Their processoriented behavior enables them to quickly advance to the productive stages within Bruce Tuckman's group development framework. The high diversity between the team player styles of the Chinese students, showed to further increase the teams degree of productivity, having ultimately displayed a generally proficient level of teamwork skills and abilities.
