Fitness APP aims to promote users' exercise behavior and develop a healthy lifestyle.Although the positive effects of these APPs on health are widely recognized,we can't ignore the negative effects of using fitness APP.Fitness APP,as a new media that produces and disseminates a lot of information about body APPearance,continues to provide women with social and cultural norms about "body beauty".will long-term use of fitness APP change women's perception of beauty standards? Will it cause women to become more and more dissatisfied with their bodies?Although there have been many evidence that the use of new media has a negative impact on women's body image,but still lacks an investigation of new media factors for fitness APPs.With the increasing popularity of fitness APP,it has become a necessary mobile APP for most fitness enthusiasts.Therefore,we should pay more attention to the impact of using fitness APP.Focusing on the question of " Will the use of fitness apps affect the body dissatisfaction of female ?" this study discusses the relationship between fitness APP use and female users' body dissatisfaction.Based on the theory of social culture and acculturation,this study uses the method of questionnaire to constructs a research model on the use of fitness APP and female users' body dissatisfaction.In this study,the relationship between fitness APP use and female users' body dissatisfaction was discussed by taking fitness APP use intensity and fitness APP use preference as independent variables,body ideal internalization and social comparison as intermediate variables and body dissatisfaction as dependent variables.Using the method of questionnaire,459 female users who had used fitness APP were investigated both online and offline.Using SPSS and Amos software to test the reliability and validity of the data,correlation analysis and intermediary effect analysis,to test the constructed research model.The results show that the intensity of fitness APP use has a positive predictive effect on female users' body dissatisfaction;The exercise function preference of fitness APP has a relatively high positive predictive effect on female users' body dissatisfaction;The data function preference of fitness APP can predict the body dissatisfaction of female users to a certain extent;The social function preference of fitness APP has a positive predictive effect on women's body dissatisfaction,and it has the lowest influence among the three user preferences.The results of mediation test showed that body ideal internalization played a mediating role in the relationship between the use of fitness APPs and female users' body dissatisfaction.Social comparison played a mediating role in the relationship between fitness APP use and body dissatisfaction among female users.This study enriches the related research on the use of new media and women's body image,and incorporates fitness APP into the new media factors affecting women's body dissatisfaction,which proves that the use of fitness APP can positively predict women's body dissatisfaction.Secondly,this study further expands the research on the influence of fitness APP,and proves that the use of fitness APP does have potential negative effects.
