With the communication and cooperation becoming the basic link of people's successful solution to complex problems,in order to cope with the increasingly severe international competition,it is more critical to cultivate students' collaborative problem-solving ability. As an effective form of education to cultivate innovative composite talents in the 21 st century,STEM Education emphasizes that students' high-level thinking ability can be improved by solving real interdisciplinary problems. This is consistent with the requirements of core talents literacy, which has become the focus of current researchers. However, the result oriented mindset leads the current teaching to pay too much attention to whether the learners are "successful" in solving problems, and less attention to the process from failure to success. The research focuses on the effect of productive failure theory on triggering effective learning, tries to use productive failure strategy to guide learners to carry out collaborative problem-solving learning, and explores the influence of productive failure strategy on students' collaborative problem-solving ability in STEM teaching. The main work of the research includes:Firstly, design research tools such as collaborative problem solving ability matrix score table and work evaluation table.According to PISA2015's ability matrix and song Yanjie's scoring method, combined with the data of classroom observation, process record, work and interview in the process of problem-solving,this study analyzes the collaborative problem-solving ability according to 12 skill dimensions.Secondly, carry out experimental research. This study selects STEM course "robot programming" as the experimental situation, takes the design of delayed guidance as an productive failure strategy, takes "guidance opportunity" as the breakthrough point, designs two teaching strategies of delayed guidance(productive failure)and direct guidance(inproductive success)for comparative experiments,to explore the influence of productive failure strategy on College Students' cooperative problem-solving ability.Among them, the experimental group adopted the strategy of delayed instruction, that is,the cooperative inquiry link(without instruction)was conducted first, and then the instructional link(providing scaffolding support and guidance)was conducted, while the control group was conducted the instructional link(providing scaffolding support and guidance)first, and then the cooperative inquiry(with guidance).Thirdly, the following experimental results are obtained:1.In STEM teaching, productive failure strategy promote learners to generate more kinds of RSMs in the process of problem solving, and the effect of improving learners' work performance is significantly better than that of direct guidance strategy.2.In STEM teaching, the effect of productive failure strategy on improving students' cooperative problem solving ability is significantly better than that of direct guidance strategy, and the main reasons are as follows It is reflected in the dimensions of assigning roles and making rules, discussing solution strategy, making plans and implementing, abiding by team rules, monitoring and adjusting consensus, monitoring and evaluating results, and monitoring and adjusting team organization.Secondly, the improvement effect of productive failure strategy on the collaborative problem-solving ability of heterosexual groups is better than that of same-sex groups.3.RSMs diversity, productive failure strategy and collaborative problem-solving ability are significantly correlated,RSMs diversity plays a complete intermediary role between productive failure strategy and collaborative problem-solving ability;4.Works performance is significantly correlated with collaborative problem-solving ability, and has a significant predictive effect on collaborative problem-solving ability.According to the experimental results,we can draw the following conclusions:First, productive failure strategy can effectively improve the teaching effect of STEM and promote the activation and differentiation of learners' knowledge, enhance the understanding and transfer of knowledge, and promote effective learning.Second, productive failure strategy in STEM teaching can effectively promote the improvement of learners' collaborative problem-solving ability.Third,RSMs diversity plays a mediating role between productive failure strategy and collaborative problem solving ability.Productive failure strategy need to promote learners to generate a variety of RSMs to promote collaborative problem solving ability.Four,In the productive failure teaching, the mixed grouping of the opposite sex can be used to improve the learners' cooperative problem-solving ability.
