Question chain is a series of hierarchical,holistic,enlightening,targeted and appropriate questions designed by teachers based on students' existing cognitive experience and according to teaching objectives and content.The appliance of question chain in reading teaching can stimulate students' interest in reading,help to develop students' reading thinking,and improve students' aesthetic perception and creativity in reading.This is not only in line with the needs of comprehensively deepening reform in education and teaching,but also is one of the means to develop students' core literacy.However,the author has found out that some teachers ask questions at their options and the design of questions is unreasonable through educational practice in the primary school.In addition,through literature review,the author found that the research of question chain has received increasing attention in recent years,but most of the research is focused on mathematics and other science disciplines,and there are just a few researches on liberal arts fields,such as Chinese.Based on the above reasons,the author decided to do the research on the design strategies of question chain in Chinese reading teaching of higher grades in primary school aiming to explore how to design question chains.More specifically,the following questions are mainly taken into account:1.What is the value of question chains in Chinese reading teaching of higher grades in primary school?2.What are the achievements and problems in the process of designing question chains in Chinese reading teaching of higher grades in primary school?3.What are the reasons for the problems existing in the process of designing question chains in Chinese reading teaching of higher grades in primary school?4.What are the strategies of designing question chains in Chinese reading teaching of higher grades in primary school?At first,the author used the method of literature research to collect,sort out and analyze the literature related to reading teaching and question chains,and formed a literature review including the characteristics,types and value of the question chain design in Chinese reading teaching of higher grades in primary school.And then the author tried to understand how the Chinese teachers designed question Chains in Chinese reading teaching with the methods of interview and observation.Next the author revealed the problems of designing question chains in Chinese reading teaching of higher grades in primary school and analyzed the reasons through consolidating and analyzing the interview materials and the cases.Finally,combined with the existing research results and teaching practice,the author offered some strategies.The main conclusions are as follows:Firstly,question chain consists of a series of hierarchical,holistic,enlightening,targeted and appropriate questions designed by teachers according to teaching objectives,teaching contents and students' existing cognitive experience.According to the teaching procedure,question chain can be divided into the lead-in question chain,the process question chain and the summary question chain.According to teaching function,question chains can be divided into situational question chain,analogical question chain,differential question chain,diagnostic question chain,inquiry question chain,flexible question chain.The question chains in reading teaching can improve students' reading quality,promote teachers' professional development and improve the teaching efficiency.Secondly,through the survey,the author found that the high grade Chinese teachers in primary schools have strong awareness of the question chain design,have correct understanding of the value of the question chain design,can take teaching aims and students' life experience into concert while designing question chains,and the question chains teachers designed can reflect multiple evaluation.However,there are also some shortcomings: the design of question chain in the teaching of reading lacks adequacy,effectiveness,hierarchy,and creativity.Thirdly,as teachers are the designers of the question chain,the author analyzed the main reasons of the problems from the aspect of teachers.The main reasons are as follows: teachers lack knowledge of question chain design;teachers don't do very well in text interpretation;teachers don't understand students' learning situation sufficiently;teachers lack the training related to question chain design;and the design requirements of question chains in teaching documents are unclear.Fourthly,the author gave the strategies according to teaching practice and research findings.The strategies are as follows: make clear the design basis and improve the suitability of question chain design;implement the design principles and enhance the hierarchy of question chain design;grasp the value goals and ensure the effectiveness of question chain design;pay attention to the characteristics of literary genre and improve the pertinence of question chain design;focus on the elements of text and explore the breakthrough points of question chain design;clarify the design process and enhance the scientificity of question chain design.
