Based on the conception of the “country-specific” teaching of Chinese as a foreign language,which is defined as “ implementing different Chinese teaching curriculums and methods for each individual country”,this thesis developed a topic word list for Chinese teaching in general high schools of Queensland in Australia as the response to the current situation of lacing of suitable textbooks and the instance of the conception of “country-specific”.To construct the topic word list for Chinese teaching in general high schools of Queensland,this thesis based on and be guided by the General Senior Syllabus for Chinese teaching in Queensland,which was enacted by Queensland Curriculum &Assessment Authority and for implementation in 2019.According to its teaching philosophy,teaching goals,ability requirements,teaching methods,teaching content and evaluation forms and combined with the students level theoretically,this thesis referred to the topics and vocabularies from 4 domestic and 2 local textbooks,the list of topic and teaching content suggestions and the commonly used words list of level 1to 4 from International Curriculum for Chinese Language Education and the current teaching vocabularies of St Andrew's Catholic College and Trinity Bay High School for Year 11 and 12 students from two commonly used Chinese learning websites“Education Perfect” and “Quizlet”,through statistical analysis,screening,supplementation,clustering,review and other processes,developed the topic word list which is suitable for Chinese teaching in general high school students of Queensland in Australia.The whole topic word list took topic as a line,divided into “the topic-specific words” “the topic universal words” “the features words of Australia”and “popular words” four “modules”.This thesis also chose a topic to design relevant teaching materials on the basis of this topic word list,then applied in practical teaching to confirm its practicability,and examined students according to the corresponding assessment requirements from the syllabus to confirm its applicability.“Country-specific” teaching Chinese as a foreign language,the specialization of the topic word list construction and the dynamic updates are the core ideas that promoted and advocated in this thesis.As a specific practice for teaching and research of “country-specific” teaching Chinese as a foreign language,with a view to providing better services for the implementation of the the General Senior Syllabus for Chinese teaching in Queensland,collecting language resources for the further textbook compilation,and pushing the career of teaching Chinese as a foreign language into the specific targeted education track.
