| Textbooks are the model resources to carry out teaching activities,and examples are an indispensable part of the teaching books of mathematics,chemistry and other subjects.The explanation of new concepts,new propositions and the display of mathematical problem-solving ideas and methods in middle school mathematics teaching need to be realized through examples.Examples build a bridge between teachers and students.Teachers’ understanding and use of examples in textbooks have a key impact on the quality of teaching.Novice teachers are in the early stage of career development,lack of professional guidance and experience accumulation in the understanding and use of textbook examples.There are some practical problems such as insufficient understanding and use of textbook examples,which affect the effect of junior high school mathematics classroom teaching.Therefore,it is necessary to explore the novice teachers’ understanding and use of textbook examples,so as to provide reference for the improvement of novice teachers’ example teaching and the development of their professional ability.By using the methods of questionnaire,classroom observation and interview,this study understands the junior middle school novice mathematics teachers’ understanding and use of textbook examples in southern Xinjiang.The results show that novice teachers have a high degree of recognition for the generality and hierarchy of textbook examples,and a low degree of recognition for the appropriateness,comprehensiveness,timeliness and teaching of textbook examples.Novice teachers do not give up textbook examples completely.Most novice teachers use textbook examples at a moderate frequency.They are mostly used for concept consolidation and problem-solving demonstration.They often go through subtle changes in application,and rarely use them directly or make substantial changes.Novice teachers pay attention to the correctness of the results,the standardization of writing,the fluency of problem-solving ideas and the summary of the same kind of knowledge and problems,but ignore the summary of mathematical thinking.On the whole,there are some problems for novice mathematics teachers,such as insufficient recognition of some functions of textbook examples,insufficient excavation of the functions of textbook examples,and single teaching methods of textbook examples;The main reasons for the problems are that novice teachers pay too much attention to students’ mathematics test scores,lack of training related to the understanding and use of textbook examples,and the teaching experience of textbook examples still needs to be accumulated.In view of the above problems,this study believes that schools should organize training on the understanding and use of textbook examples,novice teachers should establish a correct teaching concept and improve their professional quality,excavate the functions of textbook examples from multiple perspectives,and design a variety of examples presentation methods. |
