Map literacy is an important part of geographic literacy, but the definition and structure of map literacy are not unified, and its test method is single.SOLO Taxonomy,as a qualitative evaluation method,is suitable for the evaluation of map literacy. Therefore, based on SOLO Taxonomy, this paper attempts to evaluate the map literacy of high school students.According to the previous evaluation index system of map literacy, first level indicators of map literacy are divided with the established standards: map knowledge, map ability and map accomplishment.According to the theory of SOLO Taxonomy, the requirements and thinking levels of each index are explained in detail, and the evaluation system is constructed.Based on the scoring principle, nine college entrance examination questions are selected to make test papers, and the scoring standards of each question are explained in detail.200 senior high school students in Changsha are tested.According to the test results, this paper analyzes the map literacy level of high school students, and puts forward some strategies. It is found that the map literacy level of high school students has the following characteristics:1.There are great differences in the map literacy level of high school students, most of them are in Multistructural structure.Students have mastered the basic map knowledge and can achieve the basic positioning. However, there are great differences in the literacy level of students to obtain information.65.26% of the students are in Multistructural structure about the natural geography, and 68.42% of the students are in Unistructural structure about the humanities geography. There are fewer students in Prestructural structure.2.There is little difference in the level of students' interpretation map literacy in nature geography and humanity geography. In terms of nature geography,55.26% of the students are at the level of Multistructural structure and Relational structure;in the aspect of humanities geography,81.05% of the students are at the level of Multistructural structure and Relational structure. Therefore,in terms of map interpretation, the logic of students' thinking and the integrity of knowledge need to be strengthened.3.The map cultivation level of the students is high,76.32% of the students are in the Relational structure, less in the Extended abstract structure,no Prestructural structure and Unistructural structure.Specific analysis found that most of the students are interested in maps, have the awareness and ability to use maps, but lack the awareness of drawing.
