In order to understand the application of STEM education concept in the teaching of general high school biology in Tianjin under the background of the new curriculum,to enrich and improve the teaching strategies of China to penetrate STEM education concept in high school biology teaching,to stimulate students' interest in learning scientific knowledge,to improve students' STEM literacy and to cultivate more innovative high-tech talents.The study used literature research to understand the definition of the concept of STEM education and the current status of research at home and abroad,as well as to summarise the learning contents that can be integrated with the concept of STEM education in high school biology teaching;used case study method to understand the design process,teaching process and evaluation methods of STEM education and through questionnaires and teacher interviews,to understand the penetration of STEM education in general high school biology teaching in Tianjin and high school biology teachers' understanding,recognition and recognition of STEM education.The results of the study showed that the understanding and implementation of STEM education among general high school biology teachers in Tianjin was poor,but teachers' recognition of integrating STEM education into teaching was high,and the implementation of STEM education in high school biology teaching was positively correlated with teachers' understanding of STEM education and their knowledge of the methods of implementing STEM education.Therefore,it is important to broaden and deepen teachers' understanding of STEM education and to provide them with scientific and feasible teaching strategies.In addition,teachers also pointed out that there are some difficulties in carrying out STEM education in biology teaching in senior high school,such as insufficient class hours,lack of curriculum examples and great pressure to prepare lessons.Therefore,this study puts forward the teaching strategies of experimental inquiry,model making and extracurricular practice STEM education,and gives the teaching cases of "plant root tip culture and observation of mitosis in root tip meristem zone" and "chromosome change model of meiosis and fertilization" according to the teaching strategy,which provides some ideas and convenience for front-line teachers to carry out STEM education and STEM teaching design.
