The Newton's second Law experiment is one of the most important experiments in high school physics.After the experiment is finished,there are two questions left in students' minds:what will happen if the resistance is eliminated without compensation? What if the mass of the slotted weight is too high? Having finished the study of Newton's Laws of motion and a comprehensive study of its application,students may have been able to explore such issues in depth,regardless of knowledge and ability.Based on this consideration,this thesis designs an inquiry activity as follows.Tear a piece of paper tape 30 cm long,with a clip at each end.The paper tape go around the table,and the clip hanging in the air by the table pull the other clip of the paper tape on the table to move.This naturally leads to the questionable questions: what is the acceleration of the system composed of these two clips? How to boldly simplify the theoretical prediction of this acceleration? How to use the simplest method to actually measure the ratio of this acceleration to Gravitational Acceleration? When the experimentally measured value deviates greatly from the theoretical prediction value,how to investigate the various reasons behind it?In physics research,when there is a big deviance between the theoretical prediction and the experimental result,there may be a problem with the experimental measurement,or there may be a problem with the theoretical model.In this inquiry activity,the students are engaged in such a real situation,and truly experience that it is very important to investigate every possible cause carefully and to finally uncover the mystery.In short,through this type of activity,it is hope that students have the opportunity to integrate the knowledge of mechanics they have learned,experience the excitement and surprise that may be brought by inquiry,and feel the attitude of scientific research.
