Mathematization has a profound effect on mathematics education in our country. Both the curriculum standard of senior high school and the curriculum standard of compulsory education attach great importance to students' mathematization process.Mathematization is the process of organizing the real world mathematically. It is closely related to mathematical modeling and is regarded as the focus of mathematical modeling activities. However,it is difficult for students to truly experience the whole process from practical problems to mathematical problems, from solving problems to further application. Therefore, the performance of mathematization competences of students today is a topic worthy of attention, but the evaluation of mathematization competences in China is in its infancy. In order to know the performance of senior high school students' mathematization competences, and try to explore the relationship between their horizontal mathematization competences and vertical mathematization competences. This study attempts to establish a mathematization competences evaluation framework and the students of J senior high school in Shanghai were tested. Objective questions and answer questions were used in the test paper, and eight students were selected to interview according to their answers in the test paper. This study mainly explores the following three issues:(1)What is the overall performance of senior high school students' mathematization competences?(2)How do senior high school students perform in horizontal and vertical mathematization competences?(3)What is the relationship between horizontal and vertical mathematization competences of high school students?Based on the test and interview results, this study draws the following conclusions:(1)The overall mathematization competences of senior high school students is weak and below the passing level. The performance of grade two students is slightly better than grade one students, but there is no significant grade difference;(2)The performance of senior high school students' first-stage horizontal mathematization competences is average, close to the passing level.Students perform poorly on "simplifying practical problems and putting forward reasonable assumptions" and "establishing mathematical model";The performance of high school students in vertical mathematization competences is poor.More than 40 percent of the students have no idea where to start and have no idea how to solve the math problem; In addition, about 70 percent of the students don't return to the real situation to explain their math results;(3)There is a certain correlation between horizontal mathematization competences and vertical mathematization competences of senior high school students.Students who perform well in horizontal mathematization competences tend to have stronger vertical mathematization competences. The students perform better in horizontal mathematization competences than vertical mathematization competences.(4)Students perform better on traditional school math tests, and there is no significant correlation with mathematization competences; The students show a high consistency in the mathematization competences of the objective questions and the answer questions. The objective questions can also be used as a way to evaluate the mathematization competences.Based on the above research conclusions, this paper puts forward some suggestions for school curriculum and teachers' teaching, and makes reflections and prospects for the research.
