Plane geometry is an important part of junior high school mathematics learning, which is of great value for developing students' logical thinking and cultivating students' reasoning ability, but there are not many research on problemsolving errors in plane geometry. To more effectively guide teachers in the teaching practice of the plane geometry module, improve the teaching quality, enhance the students' ability to identify and prevent geometric problem-solving errors, therefore, the students' problems in plane geometry are investigated and studied. This study takes the eighth graders and mathematics teachers of H City S Middle School as the research object, and through interviews with teachers, questionnaires, test questionnaires and interviews with students, the purpose of this study is to solve the following three problems:(1)What are the common mistakes of eighth graders in solving plane geometry problems? How can these errors be classified?(2)What are the main reasons for students' problem-solving errors in plane geometry?(3)To effectively avoid these mistakes, how should teachers and students respond? The results show that the mistakes made by students in solving objective problems of plane geometry are mainly intellectual and strategic errors, and a few psychological errors. The mistakes made in solving the subjective problems of plane geometry are mainly strategic errors and intellectual errors, followed by logical errors and normative errors, and a small number of psychological errors. The main reasons for these errors are:(1)the learning of the plane geometry module is difficult;(2)the problem solving experience is insufficient, there is no solution idea;(3)the understanding of the relevant concepts, properties and theorems of plane geometry is superficial;(4)the problem solving habits are poor and do not pay attention to the problem solving specifications;(5)the graphic perception ability is not strong, and the spatial concept is relatively lagging behind;(6)the proof process violates the logical rules;(7)the psychological quality is not good. Finally, according to the characteristics and causes of students' problem-solving errors, the countermeasures for reducing students' plane geometry problem-solving errors are proposed from the two aspects of teachers' teaching and students' learning.
