Adjectives are a class of words that enrich language features,and the accuracy and richness of their use reflects students' language expression and writing abilities to a certain extent.The study of the cognitive development process of adjectives in primary and secondary school students is of great significance to the study of adjective cognition and teaching.Based on the theory of cognitive development,this thesis conducts a statistical analysis on the use of adjectives in primary and secondary school students based on the self-built composition corpus,summarizes the characteristics of the cognitive development of adjectives in primary and secondary school students,and analyzes the influencing factors of the cognitive development of adjectives in combination with the current situation of adjective use in primary and secondary schools.This thesis puts forward specific teaching suggestions for adjective teaching,hoping to provide some help for adjective cognitive research and teaching research.This article consists of nine parts.The first part is the introduction.Firstly,it expounds the reason for choosing the topic and the research significance;secondly,it summarizes the current research status of adjective cognition at home and abroad;thirdly,it introduces the theory of cognitive development,and combines the corpus to explain the application of the theory,and also introduces the corpus method,the combination of description and interpretation,Quantitative and qualitative analysis and comparative analysis and other research methods;Finally,the specific research object of the thesis is explained,and the overall research idea of the thesis is expounded.The second part specifically describes the construction process of the composition corpus for primary and middle school students.First,the source of the corpus and the investigation situation are explained;secondly,on the basis of previous research,the definition and classification of adjectives are sorted out,and the basis for the definition and classification of adjectives in the corpus is clarified;finally,the specific processing process of the corpus,labeling specifications and correct and incorrect use are explained.Judgment criteria.The third part,the fourth part and the fifth part analyze the adjective cognitive development characteristics of the students in the first to second grade,the third to sixth grade,and the seventh to ninth grade respectively.Based on the statistics of students' adjective use in each stage,the characteristics of adjective use and cognitive development of students in each stage are explored.The study found that the cognitive development of adjectives in the first to second grade students is slow,the memory of adjectives is mainly unconscious,and the accumulation of adjectives mainly depends on life experience and image memory.The adjective cognition of students in grades 3 to 6 develops rapidly.The main way of adjective memory is gradually changed from unconscious memory to conscious memory.The accumulation of adjectives gradually relies on abstract memory,and students' thinking gradually transitions from image thinking to abstract logical thinking.Students in grades 7 to9 have stable development of adjective cognition,rapid development of adjective conscious memorization,and enhanced abstraction and logic of adjective use.The sixth part analyzes the general characteristics of primary and secondary school students' adjective cognitive development.Based on the adjective usage statistics of primary and secondary school students,this thesis explores the adjective usage characteristics and cognitive development characteristics of primary and secondary school students.The study found that primary and secondary school students' adjective cognition gradually developed,memory strategies gradually matured,and cognitive development showed a trend of gradual development from concrete to abstract.The seventh part mainly sorts out the commonalities and individual problems in the use of adjectives by primary and secondary school students,and analyzes the cognitive influencing factors of primary and secondary school students' adjectives from the perspectives of education level,teaching factors,and the complexity of the adjectives themselves.The eighth part puts forward the adjective teaching strategies for primary and middle school students.Adjective teaching suggestions are put forward from the aspects of teaching and learning.The ninth part is the conclusion.The stage characteristics and general characteristics of the cognitive development of adjectives in primary and secondary school students are summarized.
